SYNOPSIS

The goal of this project was to design a professional magazine spread using Adobe InDesign. I chose to create a layout for an art-focused magazine, showcasing one of my favorite digital artists, Loish. The spread includes a feature article that highlights her background, creative journey, and unique artistic style. My aim was to capture the essence of her vibrant, expressive work through thoughtful typography, layout, and image placement. This project allowed me to practice editorial design principles such as text hierarchy, balance, and visual storytelling, while also paying tribute to an artist who has been a major source of inspiration for me.

THE COVER

When selecting an art piece for the magazine spread, I intentionally chose one with a darker color palette and a primarily black background to make it easier to contrast text against. For the title, I used a readable typeface with a soft luminance that echoed the glowing accents within the artwork, helping it feel integrated rather than separate. To enhance the artistic tone of the spread, I used a cursive-style font for body elements, complementing the creative aesthetic. The primary headline was set in white with a subtle glow similar to the title, ensuring clarity while maintaining visual harmony.

THE INTERIOR

The magazine spread features an article about Loish, highlighting her life, artistic journey, and future goals. To maintain visual consistency and support the calm, creative tone of the piece, I used a cohesive color palette of blues and greens throughout the layout. The project required a three-column format per page, which I followed to ensure readability and structure. For the article title, I used bold typography with a subtle drop shadow to make it stand out while still blending with the overall aesthetic. The design choices were made to support the content while reflecting Loish’s expressive and inspiring style.
